I love style, accessories, fashion and socialising – I'm a real girl's girl, and I started running a ‘Your Apinya' business as it offered me the opportunity to get out there and expand my social circle, have fun inspiring other women to find their style, get their groove back and make the most of themselves by experimenting with jewellery and finding the right accessories for them. The fact that I can choose when I work is the best part and love the balance it gives me with the feeling of social freedom, the knowledge that I'm bringing in an attractive income and being the mum I want to be to my 9 year old son Marcus. I love to live life to the full and I really do feel that I “have it all”, balancing work, my social life, being a wife and mother and feeling fabulous! I wouldn't hang up my beads for a night in front of the telly any day!
How did you hear about ‘Your Apinya'? I heard about ‘Your Apinya' when my neighbour threw a ‘Your Apinya' party. I called Apinya afterwards to find out how I could become a Consultant and within ten days, I was set up with my sample pack and had booked my first three parties!
What does it involve? I received my start up pack which contains £450 worth of gorgeous jewellery and accessories and paid my one off fee of £200 when I confirmed my first three party bookings. It's very quick to get up and running. I had thrown my first three parties within a month of joining and the commission I made from my first parties more than covered my joining fee. I run the business to suit my needs and the needs of my family. I do it part time but many women run a ‘Your Apinya' business full time, so you really are in control of how much you earn. Organising a party means finding a host and simply arriving on the night with my gorgeous pop up shop of goodies, chatting the women through the range and offering some tips and advice on how to create some fabulous looks. The accessories speak for themselves really and I don't have a “hard sell”. I find that most of the party guests want to buy everything...now! It really is great fun.
What the first party was like and earnings I couldn't wait to get started and my first party was just fantastic! I had a dozen or so ladies and I sold £428 worth of products, earning me £98 for just a few hours work, if I can call it that as I had as good a time as anyone else there! The key to my success in running the business is in wearing the jewellery itself. I've lost count of the number of times people come up to me to remark on a piece I'm wearing and this is what I find is the most successful way of spreading the word about the parties. I've booked dozens of parties on the basis of someone enquiring about a piece of jewellery I'm wearing! I do top up my sample pack just to keep my selection fresh and new and so that I can revisit clients in the future with new ranges.
What do you make now on a typical party and how much do you earn in a week or month? I generally do more parties in Autumn when people are thinking about Christmas parties and presents. At this time of year I do around two parties a week and make an average sales of £300 a night. This equates to monthly commission of around £500. Plus I get to buy all my samples at half price – which is the best bonus for me!
Plans for the future I'm happy running my ‘Your Apinya' business a couple of nights a week. I may decide to do more parties as my son gets older but for the moment, it's the right balance for me and gives me everything I need and more! I'm busy over the coming months getting ready for my next charity trek which I'm funding through the extra income that running a ‘Your Apinya' business gives me.
